Tulsa Triathlon: June 21, 2009!

Tulsa Triathlon - Another Success!

CONGRATULATIONS to the 168 finishers at the 2009 Tulsa Triathlon! You made it through the heat, wind and humidity, to a major accomplishment.

Special Congratulations to Eric McCrary who took the men's title by a mere 28 seconds.

Special Congratulations to McKale Davis who took the women's title by a ten minute margin.

Get the text of results here. Or, get the searchable results via the Oklahoma Sports and Fitness website.

Thanks to Tim Dreiling and the crew at Fleet Feet Timing, and all the volunteers, for another terrific race production.

June TAT Social, and NEW TRAINING PROGRAM!

THE NEXT TAT Social Event is June 30:

Pizza and ice cream time!

A TAT member has graciously opened his restaurant to us sweaty, hungry triathletes for our next get-together.

Doug and Jennifer Mitcho own Gaetano's Pizzeria in Jenks at 121st St and Elm.

Go to www.gaetanospizza.net. for info about his store and its menu. There is also a link to Google maps/directions.

We will meet there at 7 pm for dinner and hanging out on TUESDAY JUNE 30.

If you would like to run beforehand, his store is less than two miles from the Creek Turnpike Trails. He says it is no problem if you want to eat after running. (it's a very casual restaurant)

If you'd like to run beforehand, meet at the store at say 6-ish, but plan on eating at 7 pm.

Hope to see a great turnout!

TAT Announces the next training Opportunity.

Aiming for an Olympic-Distance Tri this season? TAT is sponsoring a New Training Program, designed to get you in shape to complete the REDMAN Oly Distance Tri on September 20, 2009. The training starts soon, and begins with a kickoff meeting on June 25. Cost is $100 and your time--but you'd be training anyway, Right? Get all the details and contact information in the FLYER.

Of course, The Wednesday Night Training Rides continue. Meet at the west bank parking lots, and be ready to roll out at 5:30. There are any number of groups--you're sure to find your pace with someone once you get started.

Look for TAT riders, too, and take the time to converse while you cycle.

Swimmer Looking for Open Water Options? Check this out!

It's nearly Summer, and water is warming.

When will Open Water Swimming Start?

Good Question. Check out the Yahoo Group messaging for details on a weekly basis. Mostly, the TAT sanctioned/calendared swim is only the Monday Swim. The Thursday group is not covered by TAT Insurance, if anything goes wrong. But really, YOU ALWAY SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK, especially IN OPEN WATER!

For now, keep you head in the pool with our friends:

Tulsa Masters Swim Club is gearing up for frequent swims at the McClure Pool. Check out the details on our swim page. And, TMSC has a new web address:
www.tulsamastersswimclub.com

The address for Oklahoma Masters Swimming is:
www.oklahomamastersswimming.com

National Masters Swimming is here: www.usms.org/reg

Check out the great stuff, and improve your swim with a little help from your friends!

Membership AND Renewal Info!

Early renewal option has expires, so regular dues rates are now in effect! So that means individual membership costs only $30/year, and family membership (up to four people in a household) is $40/year. I do try to send out individual reminders to people, so those who are not due to renew for quite awhile will get an email from me. Or you could say ‘what the heck, I’ll renew now!’ (grin)

To sign up, even if it is a few months early for you to renew, go here.

There will be NO MORE mailed-in memberships. (If you know that this is a hardship for someone, let me know. Having online membership sign-ups streamlines things tremendously for me). TAT pays all online fees.

We have added some new club goodies that are included in your membership. For those of you who just joined in the past month or so I will mail those new goodies to you ASAP after I get them from the secret membership goody manufacturer.

We hope you’ll take advantage of this membership incentive and will enjoy what is in store with TAT for 2009.

Feel free to email me with questions.
