1/28/2010--Weather Postponement:

The 2010 Triathlon Camp organizational meeting set for Thursday Night, January 28, has been postponed due to the adverse weather moving in. Check back soon for the new date. Stay safe everyone--take a rest day from your training, too.

St John INDOOR TRI Details!

Start 2010 off right - plan to particiate in the St. John Siegfried Health Club Indoor Triathlon!

What is the St. John Indoor Triathlon?

The St. John Indoor Triathlon is a two-day, multi-sport event featuring a 500-yard swim, 8-mile bike and 3-mile run.

When is the triathlon?

Team relays are held Saturday, February 20, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Individual competition starts Sunday February 21, 8 am to 3 p.m.

Where is the triathlon?

The triathlon will take place at St. John Siegfried Health Club, 1819 E. 19th St.

How does an indoor triathlon work?

Swimming- The swim takes place in a 25-yard heated swimming pool consisting of 4 lanes (two swimmers per lane). Each participant completes 10 laps using any swim stroke desired. Participants? feet should not touch the bottom of the pool unless they are resting at either end of the pool. A volunteer will be assigned to each swimmer to count laps. After ten laps have been completed participants exit out of the pool and up two flights of stairs to the transition area.
Transition Area- The transition area is a place where participants dress to complete the remainder of the race. There will be towels available for dry off, if needed, and a chair or table to place belongings (shoes, socks, shirt, iPod, etc.)
Bike- The eight-mile bike ride will be performed on stationary upright bikes set up inside the group fitness studio. A volunteer will be assigned to assist all participants on the bike and to keep track of mileage. After eight miles have been completed, participants will be directed to the track.
Running- The three-mile run takes place on a three-lane track with slightly raised embankments at the corners. It will take 36 laps to complete three miles. A volunteer will be assigned to count laps for each runner. Volunteers will alert participants on final laps and finish line directions.
